Pony Baseball Spring 2023 Age Eligibility

During the 2022 PONY International Board of Directors meeting, a decision was reached to change the date for determining player eligibility from August 31 to April 30. The rule change will take effect immediately. This decision was reached after careful consideration of input from leagues, parents, coaches and other sources important in the decision-making process.

There will be no loss of eligibility for any participants in the 2023 season, essentially the PONY program will be four (4) months older starting in 2023. Players born in the months of May, June, July, and August will have a choice of whether to stay in their respective age groups or move up into an older age group with their former teammates.

What Does This Mean?

1. What does this mean for me?

Olive Pony Baseball is a member of the Pony Baseball Organization and we follow the rules and guidelines set forth by Pony Baseball.  Pony Baseball defines what age groups of children will play in each division.  Previously the age cut off date for a division was Aug 31.  It has now been moved to April 30th.

2.   Does this affect me?

If your child was born during the months of May, June, July & August.  Your League Age has changed.  For example, if your child was previously League Age 10, you child is now League Age 9.  Please see the chart above.  Find the birth month along the top and go down till you find your Childs birth year.  The Age and Division on the left of the chart will show your Childs League Age.

3. Can I play in my old division?

Olive Pony is allowing affected players to play in their former (older) Division or to play in their current (younger) Division for the Spring 2023 Season.  Following this adjustment period future registrations must be made following the new League Age Chart shown above.

Olive Pony Baseball is recommending all players play in their appropriate age based on the above League Age Chart.
