Evaluation Day Make Up Schedule

Evaluation Day Make Up Schedule

Thank you all for bearing with us this weekend. We were hoping to get everything in, but unfortunately we will need to proceed with a backup plan for this week's evaluations. Please see the following make up schedule for evaluations to take place at an indoor hitting facility that has great ties with Olive Pony:

SUNDAY & MONDAY, we will be holding Player Evaluation Days for all players playing in our Machine Pitch through Bronco divisions. This is not a tryout, we use this day to evaluate all players, therefore it is imperative that every player attend. We do not have a tentative date for any make-up evaluation day just yet if necessary. There is no player evaluation for T-Ball or Pony division.

Approximate time to complete the evaluation of each age group of a division is generally around 1 and a half hours.

Evaluation Day Make Up Schedules:

LOCATION: K ZONE BATTING CAGES (22915 Savi Ranch Pkwy, Yorba Linda, CA 92887)

*There are are NO Cleats permitted at the facility so please have your player wearing athletic tennis shoes.*
**All players are asked to bring a bat, glove, hat, wear baseball appropriate attire and all necessary protective gear.**
***Parking will be very limited so we are asking parents to please park @ Kohls across the street if at all possible.***
****Seating and Standing will be very limited as well, so please be aware of the limited amount of space and limit the viewing area to the coaches and boardmembers evaluating if at all possible.***

SUNDAY 1/13/19
Pinto 7u & 8u Who didn't finish on Saturday – Check in at 1:15pm to 1:45pm – Start evaluation at 2:00pm
Bronco 11u & 12u Who didn't finish on Saturday – Check in at 1:15pm to 1:45pm –Start evaluation at 2:00pm

MONDAY 1/14/19
Machine Pitch 5u & 6u – Check in at 4:15pm to 4:45pm – Start evaluation at 5:00pm (Cage 3)
Mustang 9u & 10u – Check in at 4:15pm to 4:45pm – Start evaluation at 5:00pm (Cages 1 & 4)

*Arrival time should be 30-45 min before your evaluation start time in order to check in, put on necessary baseball attire and most importantly warm up.  We also could start evaluations for the younger division early, depending upon how quickly the older division goes. ARRIVE EARLY AS PARKING WILL BE DIFFICULT.

*Each division, players will first be organized based on age and then in alphabetical order.

*All of the older age group of each division will be evaluated before the younger age begins (ex. 8u kids will go before the 7u kids for Pinto Div)

Evaluation Format:

All players will be evaluated on the hustle, attitude, teamwork as well as their ability to run, hit, field and throw.

Some example of drills that players are expected to perform could be to swing at 3 pitches off of a pitching machine, field 2-3 ground balls, catch 2 fly balls, run bases and throw 2-3 pitches.

Again, please do everything you can to have your player attend. In the event that these times do not work for your schedule we will be having 1 more final make up evaluation date. The date and time will be announced after Mondays final evaluation group if necessary.

Cutoff dates remain the same in 2019 as it was in 2018. This change was passed by PONY International in 2018 and were to be implemented by leagues around the country in 2018, and will remain in 2019.

As will be stated in Section 8 “Equipment,” in conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating National Member Organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball Bat Standard (USABat).

Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of the -3 bat (BBCOR certified), all other 2-1/4” and 2-5/8” minus factor bats (-5, -7, -9, etc.) must be certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. 2-1/4” and 2-5/8” minus factor bats (-5, -7, -9, etc.) used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018.

2-¾” barrel bats are prohibited in all divisions of PONY Baseball. Colt 16U and Palomino 18U players are only allowed to use 2-⅝” -3 BBCOR certified bats. Thorobred 23U players must use wooden bats only as specified by Major League Baseball.

If using a tee ball bat manufactured prior to 2018, these bat must carry the USA Baseball mark accompanied by the following text: “Only For Use With Approved Tee Ball Bat.” If you already have a tee ball bat you would like to continue using, all you have to do is purchase a USA Bat sticker directly from USABB and place it on your bat.
